How important is math for a middle school student that persists in a career in programming or graphic design? I have The most hate for math at school, i can almost guarantee that i will never use the crap they are teaching in my classes. I Am looking to code stuff in either C++ or VBS something like that and i am wondering if i would need alot of math experience. I have Already looked into VBS a bit. Thanks

I’m surprised you hate math & are looking into programming. I guarantee you that though you may not need everything you are learning, it will make you a better programmer if you know your math.

Most computer science majors I know are either double majoring in math, dual majoring or are getting a minor in math. Math is essential!

maybe unless you are going into more free Design if that’s the case then No but its soooooooooo opposite for the programming major part. my friend in england does programming and he does about 20 calculations a day without a calculator. i hate math so i suggest the free handing version with the d7 format

It’s not the specific math equations that you will use throughout your programming career. It’s the thought process and logic that you develop from advanced math classes that will make it possible for you to program. If you can’t do basic algebra in junior high, you won’t succeed as a programmer.
