The GRE subject tests are among the most difficult standardized exams. Rather than testing general problem-solving skills, they require highly specialized knowledge.

The experts at The Princeton Review have thoroughly research each subject test to provide students with the most thorough, up-to-date information available. Students don’t need to relearn the entire histories of their fields—just what they need to know to earn high scores on the exams.

Each guide includes one full-length practice exam, complete with comprehensive explanations for every solution…. More >>

I don’t know about the content of this book, but I’d buy it just to get a closer look at the hot tutor on the cover.

Much better the second time around. The first time you complete a chapter and the exercises that follow, you think to yourself “there is no way I am going to be ready for the test by *pick a test date* “. But the second time through, your confidence has been raised, your memory refreshed, and you have become ready to do some serious damage.

It is also a little difficult sometimes to tell whether it’s a typo or you’re actually wrong. This is not the first edition, either, which is just plain sad. You’d think they would have carefully combed through and eradicated all the mistakes after what I am sure was an onslaught of complaints about the first edition.

Also, I really wish the Princeton Review would be more PC about marketing this book. I would like to see a GRE subject test prep book with someone who looks like me on the front cover, so I could be sure society isn’t ambivalent about “letting” women and minorities into the realm of higher mathematics. Looking at some pimply white boy is a big turn-off, but I suppose we could always rip the front covers off…

The problem that i personaly have with this book is that even though each chapter gives you a review of main topics it does not prepair you enough for solving review questions at the end of the chapter. Read chapter 3(Calculus ii), for example, and try to solve the review questions–almost impossible. It would be much more useful if they would give some hints and technics how to sole those problems before you get to them–not after.

By the fourth practice exercise in this book, I’ve already encountered two typos that make the problems impossible to solve. This is simply unacceptable in mathematics prep books. You think they’d have fixed this by the third edition.

This book is great for reviewing all the Math you learned in college. However, I don’t think the review material in the book is enough to TEACH you stuff you don’t know.

From web reviews it appears this book is much better than the REA book. I think you should buy this book first – to see if you can handle the material, and then buy the REA book for more practice problems.

    Good luck!
